Do I need an account to download a Scribd document?
No. Paste a link and the PDF is ready on the same page. An account is optional and only adds a saved history and a higher daily limit.
What does this Scribd downloader actually do?
It opens the public Scribd viewer in a real browser, captures every page in order, and combines those pages into a single PDF. Nothing is re-typed, so the result matches what the public viewer shows.
Is the download really free?
Yes. The free tier needs no account, no card and no installation. An account raises the daily allowance if you convert a lot of documents.
Will the PDF have a watermark?
No watermark is added. The PDF contains the pages as the public viewer displays them, and nothing else.
Is the text in the PDF selectable and searchable?
No, and we would rather say so plainly than let you find out after downloading. Scribd draws each page of a document as an image, so there is no text in the page for any tool to copy out. The PDF holds a high-resolution picture of every page, which is what makes it readable, printable and archivable, but you cannot search it or copy from it. If you need searchable text you need the original file or OCR.
How long does a conversion take?
A short document usually finishes in under a minute. Longer documents take longer because every page is genuinely rendered in a browser. Progress is shown live.
Can you download a paid or private Scribd document?
No. ScribSave only converts documents that Scribd serves publicly. It does not bypass logins, paywalls, download restrictions or any other access control, and it cannot render a document the public viewer would not show you.
How long are my files kept?
Converted files are held for a limited time after they finish, and the page tells you when a file is no longer available. Converting the document again is always free.
Why do most Scribd downloaders stop working?
Because they read Scribd's internal addresses rather than the page you can see, and Scribd changes those addresses regularly without announcing it. A tool that opens the public viewer in a real browser and captures what appears does not depend on anything that changes that way.
How do I tell whether a Scribd download site is safe?
Look for three things. Does it need an account or a card for something it calls free? Does it send you to a different domain to get the file? And does it say plainly which documents it will not convert, or does it quietly try everything and fail? A site specific about its limits is usually a real one, because a scam has no reason to explain what it cannot do.
Can I convert a Scribd document to Word or EPUB instead of PDF?
No, only to PDF, and for the same reason there is no text layer: Scribd shows a picture of a page, so there are no paragraphs or headings to reflow into a Word or EPUB structure. Producing one of those from a picture means inventing that structure, and the result is usually worse than the PDF you already have.
Is there a limit on how long a document can be?
There is a page limit rather than a time limit, because every page is genuinely rendered. Documents of a few hundred pages are fine; one that would take an unreasonable time is refused rather than left hanging, and the reason is given.
Do I need to be logged in to Scribd to use this?
No, and neither does the document need to be one you can reach without an account. If Scribd shows it to a visitor who is not signed in, this can convert it. Anything behind a login, a paywall or a download restriction is out of scope.
What data do you store about me?
If you do not register, only a one-way hash of your network address, used to count your daily allowance, plus the document links you convert. No account details, no advertising profile, and nothing is sold.
